Hi, I’m Chelsea. I currently reside in Brooklyn, NY but am nomadic by nature and thrive on new experiences. Obsessing over the perfect restaurant atmosphere to fit my current mood is quite possibly one of my greatest flaws. My YouTube suggested video content consists of Tiny Desk Concerts, episodes of Hot Ones and oddly satisfying kinetic sand videos. I believe you can tell a lot about a person by the way they eat a black and white cookie.

I am design obsessed in every way, but I equally value the importance of a tight process, thorough strategy and diverse team of trusted people in order to achieve the best possible experiences. My well-rounded and unique blend of agency, start up, small studio and in-house experience has shaped me into a holistic and strategic thinker across all industries and channels.

Work History

Associate Creative Director at Hero Digital

2021–Present

When I joined the Hero team as a Sr. Visual Designer in August 2021, my experience in web design consisted of mostly small marketing sites. Within my first year, I worked with an amazing team to completely transform the digital experience for UNC Health. After countless rounds of brand exploration, concept development, user research and testing, and QA, we launched the new site in April 2023 and continue to iterate on it today. Other major projects include a new portal experience for Wedgewood Pharmacy, a full brand and digital transformation for Beal Bank and currently a digital transformation for a major sports league.

Sr. Designer at Verizon’s IHA

2017 – 2021

I joined Verizon’s in-house agency in it’s infancy, when the teams were small, experimental and hungry for change. During my time here, I led concept and design for integrated campaigns across all channels including device launches, seasonal promotional periods and new product launches.

For 4 years, I worked intimately on brand development, concept work and customer experience of the retail footprints as well as the full digital experience. My main focus was to improve and strengthen the omni-channel customer experience through a consistent, thoughtful and strategic design approach.

Sr. Designer at Dapper & Associates

2015 – 2017

Upon moving to Seattle early 2015, I freelanced for a while with Wunderman mainly on the Xbox account and developed some personal brand identity projects. This led me to my role at Dapper, where I was 1 of 8 designers working on brand identity and development for mostly local small businesses and a few larger clients like Comcast, CBRE and JLL.

Dapper is an extremely tight-knit group of independent designers. We split the work as evenly as possible and pretty much all worked directly with and managed our own clients throughout the duration of each project. On top of building brands and delving into the print/physical design world for the first time in my professional career, I really honed in on project and client management skills here as well.

Designer at Tremor Video

2012–2015

Tremor was my first “real job” in New York City after graduating from Lehigh University. It is an ad tech company and very different than what I thought I would be doing as a designer in the real world, but I learned so much at this company about working with developers, designing and animating my own projects, the production process, start-up culture and working with a kick-ass team who really cared about each other.

Just under about a year in New York, I was given the opportunity to move to Santa Monica with 2 other members of the team to start the West Coast creative team and focus solely on entertainment clients. We brought a whole new vibe to this office as the first creatives—did some interior decorating, spearheaded happy hours and events and used every opportunity to feed off of each other’s crazy ideas. This is also where I developed my obsession for streamlining process and working efficiently.

I ultimately outgrew this role, knowing I wanted to shift gears into more brand-forward work.

Various Freelance

2011 – Present

I have done a ton of freelance work on my own in addition to or in between my full time jobs. A number of my own clients include start ups and small businesses, as I love working with people as passionate about their business as I am about design.

I have also designed and art directed for agencies including Wunderman in Seattle with clients like Xbox and Microsoft, and Prophet in New York with an emphasis on healthcare clients like MetLife and Alteon Health.
